Lesson's Learned

16 x 6 Glass beads

I created this tree from beads I made that just didn't make the cut. Some were brokened and forgotten about, so I recycled them into this Christmas tree. Part of our large family tradition is to have an organized competition on Christmas Day. This year we will all cover styrofoam trees. This is not the tree I will enter but give the family a look at what I am up to.

Poinsettas and a Pear

8 x 10 oil on canvas

I painted this from my table decoration at the art show at Celebration Hall in Granbury last weekend. Thanks to everyone that came out to see the show. I had a great time and managed to create two new paintings during the event. It was nice to see all my pictures in one location and hear some good positive comments. I appreciate everyone that came out. Thanks again.

Sunrise on Peak Rd
5 x 7 Oil on canvas
I liked how the sun coming up made the trees glow. The fall colors continue exposing the landscape with beautiful scenes like this not far from home.

Fall Colors

5x7 Oil on canvas

This was inspired from my painting travels in an area close to home. The fall colors were displayed for an extended time this season. Just beautiful in our area.

Slay the Dragon

8x10 oil on canvas board

We all face our challenges and when we see all the effort was worth it we feel we have slayed the dragon.

Red Barn Red Trees
5 x7 oil
Painted Nov 16, 2008
I photographed this barn on an early fall morning. The sun had that beautiful morning light that made this barn glow. Once I saw the photograph I knew I had to paint it.
It was a fun painting.

Red vase and Reflections

5 x 7

Oil on canvas

Painted November 16, 2008

My friend Joyce brought her flowers over for me to babysit while she traveled. Well they didn't survive, but the vase lived on with flowers from my garden. They created interesting shadows and great color. I am using this one as a study for a larger piece and hope to post soon.

Happy Thanksgiving

Road to Buzzard Hollow Ranch

11 x 14 Oil on canvas

Painted November 2, 2008

This location is off Pear Orchard Road in Granbury. The front gate of Buzzard Hollow Ranch is where we perched on this lovely morning. It is all about the curve of the grasses that lead to that bright red tree that attracted me. This area is just rich with painting opportunities. I hope Mr. Buzzard doesn't mind if we return.

Mark you calendars for December 6th and 7th. I will participate with the Art Bunch at Celebration Hall on the square in Granbury. There are 12 talented artist demonstrating their craft at the event. I am honored to be included. So stop by from 1 -8 p on Saturday and 1 - 6 on Sunday.

Fall trees in light

11 x 14

Oil on canvas

Painted November 8, 2008

This was painted early morning with the sun shining brightly on the colorful fall leaves. It was a quite, peaceful spot with not a soul in sight. Sometimes painting on location is like taking a mini vacation.

Tree on Fire

9 x 12

Oil on Canvas

Painted November 8, 2008

I painted this tree around 8:00 a.m. as the sun was climbing. The tree almost looked back lit and was glowing like on fire. What a great day to be outside creating art. We were at Pecan Plantation on the Brazos River in Granbury.

This was painted around 10 a.m. and fun to create. The weather out was cool and crisp with no wind. We could not have ordered better conditions.

Sunset on Pear Orchard Rd.

10 x 10 oil on canvas

Painted October 5, 2008

A friend came out to watch me paint a sunset, so I had to perform. I started this around 6:30 p.m. while the sun was still high. It was a warm, windy afternoon and just a joy to be there.

The Road to the Lake

8 x 10 Oil on Board

Painted October 20, 2008

This was painted out in Bluff Dale at Mountain Lakes. The sun rising and casting a warm glow on the trees are what caught my eye with this one. Chasing the light before it changes makes me work fast with sure strokes.

View from City Beach
8 x 10 Oil
Painted October 24, 2008
I painted this from the City beach in Granbury during the Harvest Moon Festival and Paint Out.
The weather was perfect for the fours days we painted. This was in the early morning while the lake was still calm. I loved the reflection of the colorful trees in the water.

Early Morning on Pear Orchard Road

9 x 12 Oil on Canvas

Painted September 26, 2008

This is a location we found that is not too far from home. It is a quite, rural road outside of Granbury. We got there before the sun came up and couldn't see the color of paint we were using. The fog was hovering in the low areas creating a nice effect.

Buzzard's Sunrise

11 x 14 Oil on Canvas

Painted September 26, 2008

As difficult as it is to get up early to paint a sunrise it is always worth it . Capturing the brillant colors of this new day brought a smile to my heart.

Pear Orchard Road

Painted September 26, 2008
Painted on site in Granbury, Texas. This is off Hwy 144 painted around 9:00 a.m. in the early Fall. I loved the distant views.

Last Stop

11 x 14 Oil on Board

Painted during the month of October

I first saw this old dump truck a couple of years ago on the side of the road out in Paluxy, Texas. I took a few pictures and painted in my studio recently. I loved the bright orange of the truck.

Buzzard's Work Horse

After painting down the road a friend and I were scouting new locations when we found this old work horse. I snaped a few pics and painted it during the month of October in my studio. I took my time and painted this in several settings.

Mountain Lakes

12 x 24 Oil on board

Painted October 11, 2008

My friend and I discovered this lake after painting "Road to the Lake". I took some photos and came home and painted like Edward Sissor Hands with a pallet knife. It was a fun painting to create.

11 x 14 Canvas on board - Oil

I painted this in my studio in September. I like to start a painting and finish it in one setting. I loved all the bright colors I found in these gift bags and candy filled tops.

These are some of the lampwork beads I make.

Each of the focal and accent beads are hand made using an open flame. This process is known as lampworking. I use a mix of propane and oxygen as the fuel to spark my flame. Melted glass is wrapped around a metal rod to create a bead. Additional colors of glass, metal and stones are added for accents. Each bead is then placed in a kiln for 12 hours to cool

Painted in the studio September, 2008.

11 x 14 canvas on board Oil

I painted this from a photograph I took during the Harvest Moon festival in Granbury. We were painting outside the restaurant and this gentleman offered us fresh coffee. He let us come in the restaurant before it opened to take pictures. The light was shining in the window he was facing. I liked the design and the warm color of the room.
