Wildflower Bouquet by Sheri Jones

Wildflower Bouquet by Sheri Jones
20x16 oil on canvas

This was inspired from a small still life I painted outside in my yard. The flowers I picked in a field not far from home. The bright color of the indian paint brush flowers are what I love most about this painting. This is available for purchase. $250.00

Summer Lotus by Sheri Jones

Summer Lotus by Sheri Jones
10x8 oil on canvas
I painted this at the Dallas Aboretum on Saturday.  It was growing in the same garden as the waterlily I painted earlier in the morning.  A common misconception is referring to the lotus as a waterlily but it is an entirely different plant as can be seen from the center of the flower which is a round seed pod.  The warm temperatures and moving light forced me to work quickly and this was my result. I painted this with a palette knife and lots of colorful paint. This is available for purchase.  $100.00

Warm Waterlilies by Sheri Jones

Warm Waterlilies by Sheri Jones
8x10 oil on canvas
I painted this today at the Dallas Aboretum. I meet up with artist, Doug Clark, Olivette Hubler, Chris Taplan and Hi Chi Lee. Even though the temperatures rose to 107 today, it was a lovely morning. We were nestled under trees in the shade  painting the waterlilies. We were near a stream and waterfall, which seemed to be one of the coolest spots in the garden.  This painting is available for purchase. $100.00

Maryann's Bike by Sheri Jones

Maryann's  Bike by Sheri Jones
16x20 oil on canvas
We had an artist gathering at Maryann Brummer's property. She and her husband had a number of props out for us to paint and this was one of them.  This was inspired from a photo I took that day. It's a nice reminder of a great day with good friends.  This is available for purchase thru Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, TX

Faded Pink by Sheri Jones

Faded Pink by Sheri Jones
8x10 oil on canvas
This old truck is in a field right outside my neighborhood and a scene I have driven by for years. I finally got around to painting it. It has a great mix of rust and faded paint. I thought the red fence made a great background for this old pink truck. This is sold.

Farm All Tractor by Sheri Jones

Farm All Tractor by Sheri Jones
11x14 oil on canvas

I found this old tractor on one of the back roads to my friend's house.  I just loved those back wheels and knew I wanted to paint it. I sold a tractor painting recently and the buyer asked me if I ever painted  Farm All tractors.  Little did I know I have several photos of this brand of tractor.  So this is the first and I'm sure there will more to follow.  Apparently they are everywhere, you just have to look for them.
This painting is available for purchase.  $165.00

Golden Morning by Sheri Jones

Golden Morning by Sheri Jones
18x14 oil on canvas
I was out scouting for a good painting location when I saw these bright lights. The sun was coming up and at a golden hour. I couldn't resist painting this brightly colored landscape. I have yet to paint here, but got some great photos to work from.  I look forward to cooler temperatures and returning to paint at locations like this. This is available for purchase through Dutch Art Gallery, Dallas, Texas

Wildflower Way by Sheri Jones

Wildflower Way by Sheri Jones
16x20 oil on canvas
I created this from a field study I did in the Marble Falls area.  It rained most of the weekend we were there but there was a break in the clouds. The clouds were still full, but you could see the blue sky.   I have wanted to paint a larger version ever since.   Painting the wildflowers were fun, but I especially like the clouds.  This is available for purchase. $250.00

This little sugarbowl is one of the first gifts my husband bought me.  I mentioned in passing I needed a sugarbowl and he went shopping.  He presented this to me for a birthday gift and I was  pleasantly surprised.  Love my sugarbowl!
I did this quick study with a wide brush and palette knife.   This painting is available for purchase. $75.00

White Zinnia by Sheri Jones

White Zinnia by Sheri Jones
10x8 oil on canvas
I still had some of the flowers I purchased at the nursery. I never intended to plant them, because it has been too hot. I knew the heat would torch them.  I painted several still lifes from them.  I cut the flowers and used some of my smaller vases to set up this still life.  The clear vase was fun to paint.  I always start off using paint brushes, but switch to the palette knife to apply most of the paint.  This is available for purchase. $100.00

Sunflowers and Oleanders by Sheri Jones

Sunflowers and Oleanders by Sheri Jones
10x8 oil on canvas
This is a quick study I painted in the studio. The flowers in my garden are fading fast and I wanted to use them in a still life. I don't have a lot of time to paint, so I work fast. I used the palette knife and created this over two early morning sessions.  This is available for purchase. $100.00

Plein Air Painter by Sheri Jones

Plein Air Painting by Sheri Jones
14x11 oil on canvas
When out painting with my pals I am usually painting with one hand and taking photos with the other.  My artist friends are usually so happy to be outside and painting. They also have great focus and are intent on capturing their subject.   This is Carol Ivey, a Ft. Worth artist that was out on a beautiful spring morning painting with a group of us.  I am looking forward to cooler temperatures so I can do more plein air painting.   This painting is available for purchase. $150.00

Koi Pond by Sheri Jones

Koi Pond by Sheri Jones
12x16 oil on canvas
This was inspired from a trip to Chandor Gardens in Weatherford.  It was built by Douglas Chandor beginning in 1936. He was a prominent portrait painter in his time.
These colorful fish caught my eye and after taking a ton of pictures I finally got around to painting them.  I love playing with the complementary colors, pushing and pulling the paint around.  This is available for purchase. $350.00

A Stalk of Hollyhocks by Sheri Jones

A Stalk of Hollyhocks by Sheri Jones
12x34 oil on canvas
This painting was inspired from a painting trip to the Botanical Gardens in Ft. Worth.  I painted with friends that day, and took lots of photos of the blooming hollyhocks.  I loved painting this is in the airconditioned studio. It was 115 today!
This odd shaped canvas lent itself well to the tall stalks of the hollyhock. The paint is applied thickly with the palette knife and is full of texture.   This painting is available for purchase. $350.00

Dealer or Collector by Sheri Jones

Dealer or Collector by Sheri Jones
18x36 oil on canvas
This row of old trucks are parked off Hwy 281. I saw them on my way to Marble Falls and did a quick U turn to get some photos. It was early in the morning and the sun was casting a warm glow on these old beauties. I imagine the man who owned them was a collector who turned into a dealer. You can only have so many old trucks.   This painting is Sold
